Family golf centre opens at Kilwinning

Children in Ayrshire have better opportunities to take up golf after Kilwinning Sports Club opened its Family Golf Centre this month.

Mainly funded by Irvine Housing, the Club’s disused football field has been converted into an eight bay covered practice facility, with targets at different distances, and a chipping area with four bunkers.

“We hope that as many children as possible will use this excellent new facility,” said Kilwinning Sports Club Manager, Colin Hunter. “We have strong links with the local golf courses and will now be able to coach children to a level where they can go on to play a round of golf comfortably.”

Meanwhile the Club’s staff continue to coach children in local primary schools as part of the junior national programme, clubgolf.

Schools or parents interested in golf coaching at Kilwinning Sports Club’s clubgolf lessons can contact Colin Hunter on T: 01294 556444.
