There
was a fantastic turnout of over 220 P5 pupils from 17 local
primary schools participated in the Clackmannanshire Primary
Schools Golf Festival on Tuesday 18th March.
The
Festival, which took place in Tullibody Civic Centre,
was divided into morning and afternoon sessions. The
school teams went round six stations to accumulate
points for their team. The top three schools
in the morning were: 1st Claremont Primary B; 2nd Park
Primary A and 3rd Clackmannan Primary. In the
afternoon: 1st Alva Primary A; 2nd Alva Primary B and
3rd Strathdevon Primary.
The
winning teams from each venue received shields, which
were very kindly donated by the Alloa Rotary Club.
Every child received a certificate and a bottle of
water which was generously donated by Highland Spring. Special
thanks must also go to the Alloa Rotary Club who helped
with the scoring and paid for all the buses which transported
the pupils to each venue.
Councillor
Bobby McGill presented the certificates and said; “I
was very impressed by the high standard of golfing
skill and the way the pupils performed in their teams,
supporting, encouraging and cheering each other along. The
schools staff and the active co-ordinators must be
commended for preparing their pupils so well before
this event and for getting so many to participate. We
have a tremendous junior golfing talent in Clackmannanshire,
some of whom have reached excellent heights. We could
have been looking at the next Tiger Woods at the event
today.”
