clubgolf Scottish Hydro Challenge
Pro Am 2010

On Monday 7th June, Lothianburn volunteer coaches Alan Greenshields, Hazel Carpenter and Gareth Jack teamed up with Challenge Tour pro Elliot Saltman (himself a former junior member of Lothianburn) to win the clubgolf Pro Am at the 2010 Scottish Hydro Challenge.

Their prize is the opportunity for a return trip to the breathtaking Spey Valley golf course, with Dinner Bed & Breakfast at the Macdonald Aviemore Highland Resort included, courtesy of Macdonald Hotels.

The event has grown in popularity over five years, thanks to continued support from EventScotland, Macdonald Hotels and the European Challenge Tour, and this year sixty clubgolf volunteer coaches enjoyed the opportunity to play the Spey Valley course in the company of a European Challenge Tour Pro.

You can read the full article on the 2010 clubgolf Pro Am here.

George Murray went on to win the Scottish Hydro Challenge in some style later in the week, following in the footsteps of fellow Scot Jamie McLeary who was champion in 2009.  Congratulations George !

The clubgolf Pro Am continues to be a part of the Scottish Hydro Challenge, and details of the 2011 event will appear here in due course.  For full results of the 2010 clubgolf Pro Am please click here.

Junior Coaching at Spey Valley

clubgolf activity continued throughout the Challenge Tour week at Spey Valley with opportunities for young golfers to take part in coaching delivered by local Pro Murray Urquhart.

On Thursday 10th June, 138 children from schools in the Strathspey area visited the event, and you can read about their visit here.  On Saturday 12th June it was the turn of children progressing through the clubgolf programme at Highland golf clubs, and details of their day can be found here.

The enjoyment from all those that took part was obvious, and on their behalf clubgolf would like to thank the staff at Spey Valley and the European Tour, as well as the Pros who gave up their time to help out.

The initiative was organised as part of clubgolf's association with EventScotland and the European Tour, and we hope to offer similar opportunities at this and other events in 2011.

If you would like to get juniors from your clubgolf programme involved, please contact your clubgolf Regional Manager.
