Golf is a great sport, becoming a clubgolf volunteer is great fun, we will give you all the skills to confidently lead a group session in your area. Below are our most frequently asked questions, however if you have any further questions please don't hesitate to contact us.

Do I need to be a low handicap golfer to become a PGA Level 1 coach?
A.
No, you will be demonstrating and teaching the fundamentals of putting, chipping, full swing, pitching and bunker play so you don’t even need to be an expert golfer.

Do I need to have coaching experience?
A.
No, you will learn how and what to coach on the PGA Level 1 course.
Q.
Am I too old?
A.
No, you just need to be enthusiastic about golf and have an interest in the future development of your club.

How much does it cost to become a qualified volunteer coach?
A.
It’s £130 per volunteer
Q.
How do I become a PGA Level 1 golf coach?
A.

There are 3 requirements to become a Level 1 PGA Golf coach:

  1. Attend and pass the PGA Level 1 training course (weekend course)
  2. Apply for an Enhanced Disclosure from Disclosure Scotland (do through your golf club)
  3. Attend a Safeguarding & Protecting Children course run by (3 hour evening course)
